About this Garden Plan

Plan for summer 2014. Using mostly heat loving vegetables this year using short season varieties to compensate for our maritime climate. From left to right, Bed 1 includes: low growing lavenders, sweet peppers (Beaver Dam, Wonder Bell, Banana/Jepeto), pole beans (Fortex), bush beans, variety of zinnias. Bed 2: winter squash (maybe--might save space for fall crops), summer squash, indeterminate tomatoes (Purple Cheroke, Black Prince, Momotaro, Barred Boar, etc.), determinate tomatoes (Heartbreaker, Stupice, Mountain Princess, etc.), tomatillo, carrots, dark red lettuce, purple orach on tomato trellis, green onions, more zinnias. Bed 3: lavender (Hidcote), Beauregard sweet potato and leeks, golden beets, and carrots to be planted later in summer for fall harvest. Tilled in compost-heavy planting mix to lighten soil and elevate beds, need to add boards to these up and make them more like real raised beds. More than half of the harvest will be donated to Produce for People.
