Garden Plans > 2013: front yard northeast block
What used to be a dying lawn will now be a producing garden with composted soil mixed into the old lawn. Using an existing lawn sprinkler system will make it easier to maintain moisture. The location gets good morning and afternoon light, with minimal obstruction to sun but is often exposed to wind from the west. Cover crops will be started for tilling into the ground this fall, and a new area of plants will be grown in those areas next year, while the existing areas will be given rotating rest periods. Radiant heat from the street will maybe help berry bushes. Sunflowers are placed near road for attractiveness.
