About this Garden Plan

There are a lot of common pests that come along with a successive garden. Cabbageworms are commonly found in broccoli and cabbage. Different types of worms attack some of the plants as well, such as the earworm to corn and the hornworm to tomatoes. (https://www.planetnatural.com/tomato-gardening-guru/pests-disease/) Carrots suffer from nematodes and viruses. Beetles are also common like with cucumber beetles and with the radishes being attacked by flea beetles. Onions repel pests away from cabbage, broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a few other crops as well. Basil improves the production and flavor of tomatoes. The smell of both onions and tomatoes help to repel mosquitoes. Borage helps to protect both tomatoes and cabbage by repelling the hornworm and cabbage moths. (https://www.thespruce.com/companion-planting-1402735) There are a lot of pests to be weary of with cantaloupe and melon plants, such as whiteflies, aphids, cucumber beetles, and squash bugs. Introducing natural enemies into the garden, such as the parasitic wasp and lady beetles, can help with this problem. Beetles are also a common problem like with cranberry plants and the Japanese bettle is also common with raspberries. These larger insects can be removed by thoroughly spaying the plants with water or physically removing the insects yourself. In the fourth garden, I planted beans and peas for the purpose of symbiotic nitrogen fixation. To protect my corn, edamame, and beans, I planted squash and rosemary as trapping crops for dear and insects.
